BLAG is one of the few Linux distributions that has
been labelled “Free GNU/Linux distribution” by the Free Software
Foundation (here is a link to the relevant page on the FSF website:
http://www.gnu.org/distros/free-distros.html). It is based on
Fedora, but all packages that contain non-free software are
replaced. It also features a free-kernel (kernel-libre). The
distribution is made available on one CD. BLAG comes with a variaty
of applications including multimedia, graphics, desktop internet
applications and moreUnfortunately, the development of BLAG has been dormant for more
than a year. The main reason lies in the fact that the lead
developer left the team and there was no suitable replacement at
the time. In the last months, a group of dedicated people are
picking up the pieces and working towards a new release of BLAG.
Right now, we are preparing to release BLAG 120k, which is based on
Fedora 12. At the moment, we have a live-cd available for testing:
BLAG 119999 (Alpha), both for i386 and x86_64 systems.BLAG is a project where community input is very important. Not
only do we promote Free Software, but also we like to give people
the opportunity to become part of BLAG. No matter how skilled
people are, there are various areas where they can help and there
is always room for enthusiasts.
