SAN JOSE, Calif. (March 2, 1999) Ricoh
Silicon Valley (RSV) today launched www.RiSource.org, a website for open
source software developers creating new information applications
for workgroups and small to medium-sized offices.

“RiSource.org is one of the steps that Ricoh is taking to bring
leading edge information technologies to knowledge workers,” said
Peter Hart, chairman and president of Ricoh Silicon Valley. “This
site underscores RSV’s long-term commitment to the support and
development of next generation computing and communications
technologies and the creation of new business opportunities for our
partners.”

In addition to providing open source developers with RSV’s just
released PIA Framework Technology (see today’s related press
release), RiSource.org will evolve to include areas for:

  • RiSource Forum – forums for sharing information on open source
    software
  • RiSource Guides – guides and tutorials for creating effective
    information applications
  • RiSource Development – support for starting and collaborating
    on open source projects
  • RiSource Repository – access to open source software, including
    the PIA framework

RiSource.org will promote the growth of a development community
that shares a common, open source infrastructure and knowledge
base, and will evolve to include resources and information to
support VARs, system integrators and consultants serving the small
office/workgroup environment.

Ricoh Silicon Valley, Inc. is a business development and
research subsidiary of Ricoh Company, Ltd., a world leader in
electro-optics and office automation. RSV includes Ricoh’s
California Research Center dedicated to applied research, and the
Ricoh Strategic Business Center focused on alliances and new
venture investments. RSV’s goal is the application of leading edge
computer and communications technologies to small business
information management.
