Samba 2.0.0beta1 was released yesterday. This is the first Samba
release with the “2.0” moniker out of alpha. It contains speed
improvements, GNU autoconf installation, improved file locking, the
ability for Samba servers to “join” an NT domain a la NT
Workstation, a web-based configuration GUI, Windows NT-specific SMB
requests (64 bit filesystem presentation to NT clients),
documentation updates and functional but currently unsupported
preliminary domain controller code limited to client
authentications. Details can be found at http://samba.anu.edu.au/samba/index.html.
