Linux.

SGI support
for Linux
has been building for the past several years, most
lately punctuated by SGI joining Linux
International
in December.

There has been much speculation and rumor about the Linux
support the new
SGI 320 and 540 Visual Workstations
would have.

There has been much lobbying to get support for the new SGI
Wintels built into the 2.2 Linux kernel.

Finally, Linus included the support in the 2.2.0-final kernel
released Thursday.

Bent Hagemark has posted
instructions for installing Linux on the SGI 320/540 in a HOWTO and some
additional
information
.
