transform business. But Microsoft faces stiff competition from the
Java programming language and also from the growing popularity of
Linux and other open source software….”“As for competition with Linux, [Bill] Holmes [systems
integration manager at Cornell University’s computer science
department who attended Microsoft’s TechEd conference in Atlanta],
said he thinks both systems have their place. ‘Microsoft is also
doing a version of open source with its early adopter program,’ he
said. ‘It has changed the way it deals with some people because of
open source.’
