SJ Mercury: Linux gets a boost from HP

demand from engineers, Internet service providers and software

“The strongest support for Linux came Wednesday, when
Hewlett-Packard Co. announced it would support a version of Linux
from Red Hat Software Inc. on a limited number of its Intel-based
servers, with a promise to increase the number of products suitable
for use with Linux throughout the year. The Palo Alto company also
promised to develop a version of Linux specifically for Intel’s
64-bit microprocessors.”
