Because FreeBSD is based on BSD, its commands, command options
and architecture are identical to those of this well-known Unix
flavor. Linux, by contrast, is closer to AT&T’s System V, with
some unique features.
Also, FreeBSD’s development has been less chaotic than that of
Linux. The software is updated and improved by a group of core
developers.
