“As Microsoft puts the finishing touches on Windows 2000’s
Active Directory, partner Cisco Systems is working overtime to port
the directory service to Unix.”
“Cisco concedes that the porting project is behind schedule
and may not be completed until summer 2000, but the networking
giant may give patient resellers and developers a big consolation
prize: Active Directory on Linux.“
“We haven’t committed a team to Linux, but it would be the
logical next step [after Unix],” says David Jones, general manager
of Cisco’s networking-services initiative. “I certainly see that as
an option.”
