“According to officials at Mozilla.org, the group spearheading
development of the open-source Netscape browser, an alpha version
of its browser is tentatively slated for release on Dec. 15. A beta
version of Mozilla 5.0 is expected to come a couple months
later-possibly by mid-February.”

“Although Communicator 5.0 is a separate product from Mozilla
5.0, its blueprints will be very similar and based on much of the
code developed through Mozilla.org’s open-source efforts.
Therefore, any delays in Mozilla?s browser release could impact the
timing of Netscape?s Communicator 5.0 launch….”

“Discussing Mozilla’s launch plans in a recent MozillaZine chat,
Mozilla.org evangelist Mike Shaver said the alpha launch will
be geared towards rallying developer support, even though the
product’s feature set will not be finalized at that time.
