“Software developers from all walks of life continue to test the
Linux waters. And as developers keep diving in, so, too, will
resellers.”

“SCO… says it will offer its enterprise consulting services to
customers that are interested in evaluating and managing the cost,
benefits and risks of open-source software.”

“SCO has yet to release any of its significant Unix properties
into open source (with the notable exception of SAR, a kernel
administration tool). But the idea of placing elements of its
product line into open source is being weighed. And the possibility
of an SCO-developed Linux distribution is a hotly debated topic
within the company, SCO officials confirm.”

“Meanwhile, Lotus has announced a downloadable ‘sneak preview’
of Domino for Linux.”

“Separately, Caldera Systems plans to bundle Applix’s office
suite, Applixware, in its distribution of Linux.”

“Analysts say each of those Linux efforts reinforces the
fact that the open-source operating system is gaining momentum in
the channel.”
