Various Phoronix readers have written in this weekend and commented in the forums and elsewhere that systemd developers forked the Linux kernel. This is not the case.

Another Linux web-site this weekend posted news that systemd developers had forked the Linux kernel and included a copy of their kernel source-tree within the systemd Git repository. After hearing this information at first, it took all of thirty seconds to realize that it was bunk and just an early April Fools’ day joke or the like.
