Tcl/Tk 8.2 is the latest version of Tcl/Tk. We’ve added a number
of features this year that make Tcl the pre-eminent scripting
language for enterprise applications. These are described on our

page.

New Tcl/Tk 8.2 Features

The new features in Tcl/Tk 8.2 include:

  • First implementation of Tcl Extension Architecture (TEA)
  • Trf patch for stacked I/O channels, which allows the SSL and
    other channel extensions to work;
  • DDE patch that provides the poke command
  • New procedures for manipulating strings that offer substantial
    performance improvements
  • Tcl test harness is now a loadable package

Tcl/Tk 8.2 is compatible with most releases of the following

  • Linux
  • HP-UX
  • SGI

  • Digital Unix
