Subject: Dr. Dobb’s Tcl-URL! – weekly Tcl news and links (Jul
10)

Paul Duffin explains a bit about the usage of and philosophy
behind “stubs”, which allow Tcl extensions to work with many
different versions of Tcl without being recompiled

dhagberg@millibits.com is soliciting suggestions for a Sybtcl
3.0 roadmap
http://deja.com/=dnc/getdoc.xp?AN=641404388

Unifix Online has ceased to exist as a company, but thanks to
open source licensing, the excellent BWidget toolkit developed at
Unifix is still available and should continue to work with future
Tcl/Tk releases
http://deja.com/=dnc/getdoc.xp?AN=641949585

A couple of new array ideas were proposed. See these references
to read about [array foreach] and [array default]

Karl Lehenbauer proposed a new way to manipulate TclObjs from
the script level. This isn’t an object system for Tcl programs
(like you get from Incr Tcl). This is manipulating the internal Tcl
data structures, which allows you to do things like run code
through the byte compiler

And this week’s quote of the week is by Gordon Johnstone, which
injected just a little bit of humor into the most heated threads to
appear in c.l.t. in quite some time:
(this should be to music ) Poketcl, got to catch {’em all}.Team
Otto says “COMPILER, I CHOOSE YOU, do your newsgroup annoy attack”.
Can Freewrap and TclKit save our hero’s? Will sanity ever return to
the group? Will anyone ever buy COMPILER? Tune in to the next
exciting episode of Poketcl. ;0)
( My apologies to anyone without kids who has never heard of bloody
Pokemon)
