“Increasing interest in Linux is clearly visible by the number
of large software and hardware companies exhibiting at Linux Expo,
in Raleigh, N.C., this week.”

“Khaki-clad, polo-shirted representatives of major vendors IBM,
Hewlett-Packard, SGI, and Fujitsu could be found mixing with
engineers from long-time Linux developers, such as Red Hat Software
and Caldera Systems.”

“The growth of Linux Expo is a key indicator of the popularity
of the free operating system software. Nearly 4,000 users
registered for the fifth annual Linux Expo. That is double the
registration of the 1998 conference. Linux Expo has also moved to
the largest venue in area, packing over 100 exhibitors into the
Raleigh Convention Center. Last year, the trade show and conference
was held in the basement of the Duke University student union.”
