“Shares of Canadian software developer Corel sailed into record
territory this week on rumors that its new Linux products position
it as a takeover target, but analysts said Tuesday the timing makes
a deal unlikely.”

“The Ottawa-based firm rocketed to a record high of C$40.95 on
the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSE) Monday, fueled by rampant Internet
rumors that it was a takeover target of theworld’s largest
distributor of Linux, Red Hat….”

Some industry watchers point to Corel as a good buy for Red
Hat because it is developing Linux versions of its popular
software.
Corel Chief Executive Michael Cowpland said Tuesday
there have been no takeover discussions.”
