“Lernout & Hauspie demonstrated how its software can
recognize and translate human speech and how that technology is
moving from the desktop to platforms like handheld devices,
information appliances and enterprise networks. For example,
L&H unveiled plans to launch before the end of the year the
L&H iTranslator Online, a Web-based, e-commerce translation
service.”

“At the show, Belgium-based L&H said it would support
Linux developers that want to incorporate speech into their
applications. To that end, the company is extending to the Linux
operating system developers the L&H Voice Xpress Software
Development Kit.
L&H also said it inked a licensing pact
with Symbian, the wireless consortium, to include L&H’s
International Correct Spell and the IntelliFinder reference engine
for use in the Symbian platform.”
