TechWeb: Sun Loses Another Battle in Java War

“A federal judge on Monday denied Sun’s motion for a summary
judgment on copyright infringement and granted Microsoft’s motion
to dismiss Sun’s claim.”

U.S. District Judge Ronald Whyte accepted Microsoft’s
request for summary judgment, a move that upholds the software
giant’s assertion that it did not violate Sun copyright laws in its
use of Java technology.

“In a similar ruling April 7, Whyte denied a Sun motion for
summary judgment that would have supported Sun’s claim that it does
not have to supply Microsoft with Java upgrades compatible with
Microsoft’s available software.”
