TechWeb: Sun Moves Ahead With Linux Efforts

“Sun Microsystems said Wednesday that Linux applications can run
on its Solaris operating system, and that it plans to release free
development tools to ensure source code compatibility between Linux
and Solaris.”

“Software development tools for the Solaris SPARC Platform
Edition that assist in source code compatibility between the Linux
and Solaris platforms are expected to be available for free
download next month, while tools for the Solaris Intel Platform
Edition are expected to be released later this year.”

“Recently Sun contributed software to an open source development
effort where users can run Linux applications on Solaris 7,
expanding the number of available applications.”
