Terra Soft Solutions is proud to announce that Yellow Dog Linux
now runs on the Apple Blue & White G3s.

Our in-house development team has successfully ported the CMD646
driver to the Linux/PPC kernel, offering the much anticipated
support for the primary ATA chain. This driver supports the
ultra-DMA features of the chipset, allowing data transfer in excess
of 30MB per second. The Blue & Whites are now fully functional
with ATA, SCSI, and USB. The Linux development community is working
to add IEEE1394 (FireWire) support.

“I am pleased to have enabled advanced support in the Linux/PPC
kernel and look forward to making future contributions to the
community,” states Stephen Edie, Wearer of Several Hats at Terra
Soft Solutions.

Until now, the lack of support for the first ATA chain was
keeping Blue & White owners around the world from using Linux.
Now, Stephen Edie, Dan Burcaw, and consultant to TSS Troy
Benjegerdes have enabled Linux to take full advantage of the 100MHz
bus and speedy processors of the finest machines Apple has ever
produced.

Champion Server 1.0 may be ordered online via the YDL website
http://www.yellowdoglinux.com/ydl_order.html
and is currently shipping to over 200 countries worldwide.

Please note that the updated kernel is available online:

Dan Burcaw, Director of Research & Development, adds “While
this kernel has demostrated stability on the Blue & Whites,
iMacs, and pre-G3s, it is new, and we therefore discourage
individuals from using this update with other than Blue &
Whites or for mission critical environments. We are working hard to
ensure that our patches are a rock-solid addition to the Linux
kernel source tree and look forward to providing Installation
Support in short order.”
