FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OTTAWA, CANADA July 22nd, 1999

The Puffin Group today announced that it will be fully
sponsoring the Open Source Writers Group, a growing organization of
volunteer writers, editors, proofreaders, and translators who
donate their time toward non-commercial open-source projects. The
Puffin Group will provide the Open Source Writers Group with a
combination of technical resources and financial compensation in
order to ensure its continued existence and growth.

“We’re very excited about having the opportunity to support the
Open Source Writers Group as it is integral to the continued growth
and success of the open-source movement,” says Christopher Beard,
President and CEO of the Puffin Group. “The decision to support
this project was an easy one, as this is the sort of project that
The Puffin Group very much believes in.”

“The Puffin Group sponsorship of the Open Source Writers Group
is very exciting, as it demonstrates the growing professional and
community support of open-source projects that expand beyond the
scope of coding and development,” says Deb Richardson, founder and
co-ordinator of the Open Source Writers Group. Ms. Richardson will
be joining The Puffin Group with responsibility for the company’s
technical communications.
