Since switching from Windows to Linux last June, I had been
looking for a feature laden download manager which functions
natively under X Windows, has a queue for downloading files
sequentially, supports resuming on dropped connections, and is
roughly equivalent to GetRight in Windows.
My friend then
informed me about GTM (GNOME Transfer Manager) 0.4.4. He assured me
that I would like it, so I decided to give it a try. GTM, without a
doubt, fills the slot of the download manager I was looking
for….”

“GTM has a small applet which will conveniently fit into the
GNOME Panel. When left clicked, GTM will prompt the user for a URL
to download. After the user feeds GTM the information, it will then
open the program and lets the user start the download, or leave it
in queue for later download. It would be nice if the applet showed
the progress of a download or the average of all the downloads
which are running.”
