Tokyo-based Plat’home will market UPS for Linux

The January 6, 1999 “Japan Computers” report, a paid
subscription e-letter, reports that Plat’home will market a
Mitsubishi-manufactured uninterruptible power supply installed with
its proprietary shutdown software for Linux.

There will be two models:

  • The standard model will be priced at $460
  • The rack-mounted model will be priced at $825.

Plat’home is a leading freeware OS-installed PC server vendor
and expects to sell more than 1,000 units of the Linux-enabled UPS
annually.
