“One of the kicks against Linux, including versions from Red Hat
and Caldera, is that it is extremely difficult to install. Linux is
a variant of Unix, a command-line operating system that only geeks
and systems administrators seem to understand. Linux isn’t much
easier.”

“But, when it launches its flavour of Linux at fall Comdex,
Corel promises it will install in under five minutes. The
install routine asks four simple questions, and based on your
answers, installs only what you need. Compare that to Windows’
45-60 minute install, which requires numerous restarts – and your
supervision.

“Another assumption Corel made is that home users would be much
more comfortable with a graphical user interface than a cryptic
command line one. They are right.”
