Randy writes:

For continuity’s sake, here’s the only write-up in the on-line
English dailies about yesterdays
“massive” rally
.

The Chosun Ilbo ran a picture on their home page with a
brief write-up
inside.

Yesterday’s article in the
Korea Times was not followed up today. The Korea Herald has not
printed anything on-line since their initial report earlier in the
week.

(opinion) MS’s products are no more over priced here than
anywhere else – some dollar/won conversions were printed in earlier
press reports. The Chosun’s printed price today is also in line
with that:

a Win95 to 98 upgrade at ~1200 won/dollar…90$(retail) * 1200 =
108,000 won.

The vendors are pissed for two reasons: 1) because they are all
Mon & Pop operations that don’t get volume discounts, and 2)
they are starting to get busted and closed down for piracy.

In fact, it’s in today press about a crackdown in “unlicensed
software use at public organizations and government agencies.” See
this
story
and this story,
both in the Korea Times.
