USA Today/AP: Microsoft quits group after criticism

“Microsoft Corp. on Tuesday resigned from the Software and
Information Industry Association, a Washington-based lobbying group
that recently has been critical of the company’s business
practices.”

“SIIA president Ken Wasch said Microsoft’s move was not
unexpected,
and that the company has ignored many issues
facing Congress in order to focus on its antitrust battle.”

“”In quitting SIIA membership, Microsoft has again proven
that their tactics resemble that of a schoolyard bully,” Wasch
said.
”Since the SIIA Board of Directors has refused to play
by Microsoft’s rules, Microsoft has, in effect, taken its ball and
gone home.””
