“Corel CEO Michael Cowpland wants to be the hero for thousands
of computer systems professionals who like the free Linux operating
system.”

“His company is offering a version of its popular
word-processing software to run on Linux-based machines.”

“Cowpland, who spoke Tuesday at the LinuxWorld conference,
expects Linux-based software to account for 50% of Corel’s revenue
in five years. “There’s a big appetite for something like Linux,”
he says without mentioning that he’s happy to provide alternatives
to Microsoft products.”
