“Linux and other “free” operating systems will more than double
their market share to 9% of corporate PCs over the next two years,
a new survey from Survey.com predicts….”

“People are sold on open source software,” Survey.com Senior
Analyst Dave Trowbridge says. “The era of proprietary standards is

International Data Corp.’s Dan Kusnetzky says a study his
company is completing for clients shows similar projections.

Those data, in turn, have forced IDC to up its projections for the
future. Just last September, for instance, the group was
forecasting Linux would be on no more than 2% of corporate desktop
PCs in 2002.”
