“The challenge seemed simple: Convert a mainstream,
family-oriented Windows PC to use the Linux OS without sacrificing
the functionality of the original system. Could a Linux OS be
installed and still provide the DVD, CD-RW, and DSL support that we
take for granted with Windows? I took the home-oriented Lycoris
Desktop/LX and put it to the test.

“Initial installation of Lycoris was simple to understand, and
unlike other distributions, doesn’t overwhelm with a myriad of
options that could confuse those unfamiliar with Linux. The process
was basically the same as Windows, and even lets you play solitaire
while it copies files from the CD to the hard drive…”
