After two Release Candidate versions, VLC 2.1.0 is finally here, bringing numerous improvements, new features and bugfixes, which make it one of the most powerful, reliable and stable media player applications on the Internet. VLC 2.1.0 is also the first stable release that has been officially ported to the Android and iOS mobile platforms, as well as partial support for Windows Store App and WinRT. While support for PowerPC-based Macs (Mac OS X 10.6+ is now required) and SQL has been discontinued, VLC 2.1.0 comes with rewritten audio core, supporting higher samplerates, better volume management, better device selection, new output capabilities and new channel layouts.
