Windows NT Systems: The Hype About Linux

“So, what is the reality here? Linux is just another version of
Unix for the Intel platform. This is nothing new. Microsoft used to
sell a version of Unix, called Xenix, for the PC, and Santa Cruz
Operation (SCO) continues to do so. The fact that Linux is free and
open-source is supposed to herald a revolution in the way software
is distributed; again, nothing new here.”

“Linux is fine for setting up a Web server running Apache. If
you’re a hard-core programmer, it might be a good development
platform. But as for replacing or augmenting your NT network,
forget about it.”
