“When can a T-shirt become a trade secret? When it tells you
how to copy a DVD.“
“Such is the view of the DVD Copy Control Association, which
expanded its list of defendants in a suit against DVD de-scrambler
distributors to include Copyleft, purveyors of the popular OpenDVD
T-shirt….”
“Steve Blood, the founder of Copyleft, said that his company
received a summons on Monday, and that he has not decided how to
respond to the action. “It’s hard to know what to do when you’re
just a tiny company in New Jersey,” Blood said.”
“He said he had contacted the Electronic Frontier Foundation,
the nonprofit representing the more than 500 defendants in the DVD
CCA’s suit, to discuss his legal options. “We’re so small, we can’t
just drag our own lawyers into this,” he said.”
