Yahoo!/Reuters: IBM To Unveil Support Deal For DB2 On Linux

“International Business Machines Corp will announce Tuesday
an alliance with Pacific HiTech Inc. to distribute and support
IBM’s database software, called DB2, on the Linux operating
system.”

“Privately held Pacific HiTech, Asia’s biggest distributor of
Linux, will sell a version of IBM’s DB2 that runs on Linux, and
provide technical support for its customers.”

“This is a natural extension of our strategy,” said Dick
Sullivan, a vice president for integrated solutions for IBM. ”We
see Linux as a very important operating system, particularly in
today’s e-business environment.”
