kind ever made, and a resounding testament to the collaborative
power of the Internet, the Linux kernel drew little notice from
mainstream computer media for nearly a week after the 2.2 release.
That may have been a blessing considering some of the bloopers of
the past. Like the story we here at ZDNet ran last fall about how
the 2.2 kernel had missed a “shipping deadline.”
