ZDNET UK: Linux Expo: Alan Cox says 2.4 kernel by November

“Linux developer extraordinaire, Alan Cox, revealed at the first
ever UK Linux Expo exclusively to ZDNet UK that the 2.4 kernel of
Linux could be available for developers everywhere as soon as
November…”

“This revelation should delight Linux disciples as well as the
encouraging noises Cox made concerning hardware developments. He
suggests that the most significant forthcoming events for the Linux
community may be in this area. “The biggest development is
going to be scaling,” he says. “There are a lot of multi-processor
machines on the way from vendors and SGI who are really interested
in 256 way machines…

“Appropriately decked out in a red hat exactly like the one used
as a trademark by Red Hat as he browsed the stands, Cox was swamped
by adoring follows of the Linux hoping perhaps that a little of his
coding expertise might rub of on them. Cox is obviously enjoying
the first ever official Linux-fest in his own country.”
