“If Mobile Linux had been ready to launch last week, there
may have been less hype around Transmeta’s Crusoe processor and
more excitement about the operating system that will run on
it.”
“After all, Linus Torvalds, the father of Linux, works at the
company and is largely responsible for the attention that the
five-year-old startup got in the first place. And Mobile Linux is
an operating system that will run the new category of tablet-sized
Internet-browsing devices called “Web pads.”
“Mobile Linux also is what OEMs need before they can start
shipping the devices. But Transmeta has yet to announce an
availability date for the new operating system.”
