“Siemens has launched a multi-purpose workstation based on the
Pentium II processor which can be purchased pre-configured with
Linux. The German PC manufacturer will establish a Linux group
within the company to administer the open source offering.

Siemens could not confirm which distribution of Linux it
favoured but described its ‘Scovery’ line, as an ‘intelligent
terminal’. “The Scovery 211 and 212 models can feature an optional
Linux operating system and include terminal emulation and Citrix
Client software, all of which is stored in flash memory to speed
the bootup process and protect it from unauthorised user acess,”
according to a company release.”
