ZDNN: Oracle says it may be forced to cut prices

Oracle Corp. may need to cut prices, particularly in the
database software market, because of intense price competition, the
No. 1 database software company disclosed on Friday in a regulatory
filing.

Oracle said its competitors in that market –principally IBM
Corp., Informix Corp. and Sybase Inc. — are offering deep
discounts to try to recapture or gain market share in the
relational database market.
