“Mission Critical Linux’s innovative high-availability Convolo
Cluster product will be highlighted this Tuesday in a keynote
speech by Albert Y.C. Yu, Senior Vice President and General Manager
of Intel’s Architecture Group, at the Intel Developer Forum Fall
Conference in San Jose. The keynote, entitled “Leadership Platforms
in all Segments”, will include a demonstration of an IA-64-based
Convolo Cluster seamlessly integrated with an IA-32 Intel web
server farm to provide back-end high availability for dynamic
data.”
“The system uses an IA-64-based Convolo Cluster to guarantee
high availability for the front-end, IA-32-based servers. The
redundant web servers access the main databases through a two-node
cluster configuration that uses shared storage disks to ensure the
integrity of dynamic data during transactions. The cluster server
nodes, which are connected to a shared storage controller, keep
track of all dynamic data entering the databases; when one node
shuts down or fails, the other node accesses the disk and uses
transaction logs to recover the database and continue
operation.”
