Cloudera Gives Hadoop a Spark

The open source Hadoop platform has emerged in recent years as the defacto standard tool for Big Data. Among the biggest backers of Hadoop is Cloudera, which built a freely available distribution of Hadoop (CDH) as well as an enterprise release.

Cloudera just introduced Enterprise 5.7, a release that provides users with new Spark capabilities that help accelerate Big Data analysis. Spark in many respects is replacing the MapReduce technology inside of the Hadoop ecosystem. However, its displacement should not be too disruptive for most Hadoop users, according to Cloudera.
