“Adding to the growing evidence of the popularity of Linux among
small and mid-size companies, IBM said that its most recent
WebSphere Commerce Latest News about WebSphere application, version
5.4, supports Linux on Intel-based xSeries servers.

“In September, IBM will announce similar support for its zSeries
servers, most often used by enterprise-size companies, Debbie
Moynihan, program director of WebSphere Commerce, told
CRMDaily.com.

“With WebSphere Commerce’s next major release, set tentatively
for early next year, IBM expects to offer concurrent releases for
Linux. ‘By that time, I think Linux will be a primary platform’ for
a lot of our customers, Moynihan said…”
