“IBM Corp. on Wednesday introduced the latest version of its
NUMA-Q server line and discussed plans to port the high-end servers
to the Linux operating system.”
“While IBM’s server lines currently support Linux, the company
plans to utilize some of the NUMA-Q capabilities to push the
upstart operating system into the enterprise, said Fry. “Linux
is typically deployed in smaller machines,” Fry said. “Our
goal is to drive Linux to mission-critical applications.”
“IBM’s Linux strategy for NUMA-Q includes adding APIs to its
DYNIX/pyx operating system that will allow Linux to take advantage
of such features as workload management and workload balance, an
IBM spokeswoman said.”
