“IBM, Armonk, N.Y., is adapting its SP-based middleware to work
on Linux-based Netfinity clusters, said David Gelardi, director of
benchmarking and solution initiatives for the RS/6000 brand in
IBM’s Server Group.”
“While customers are already using public domain software to
build Linux clusters, said Gelardi, this initiative will allow
Linux-based superclusters to natively run applications designed for
IBM SP supercomputers.“
“IBM has seen its supercomputer customers exploring the
possibility of enhancing their systems with Linux clusters based on
the Intel Corp. platform for the past 18 months or so, Gelardi
said.”
