sales,” says Ross Maurie, vice president of Unix software at IBM
Corp., Somers, N.Y. “With business-to-business sites going up on
the Web and the explosion of consumers going on the Internet, a lot
of Web serving/transactional commerce servers are Unix. Our Unix
sales are continuing to grow.”
“Unix vendors are starting to make their operating systems more
graphical, user-friendly and manageable,” says Ingo Roemer,
president of Rocket Science Internet Solutions, a 5-year-old Sun
Solaris solution provider in Portsmouth, N.H. Hewlett-Packard Co.
and Sun Microsystems Inc., for example, have each bolstered their
offerings.”
