The Transaction Processing Performance Council runs periodic
benchmarks measuring database throughput. This month, an SGI
machine running Linux and IBM’s DB2 took top honors in the 100GB
field, topping Windows 2000. Our contributor tells us this is a
first.

It’s fair to note that the last Win2K figures for that class
were submitted in December of last year, and as with any benchmark,

is always in order to learn how the numbers are gathered
and interact with the real world.

It’s also fair to note that the availability of the SGI machine
in question is late October of this year.
