“In anticipation of the growing popularity of e-business
applications on IBM’s S/390 platform for Linux, BMC Software has
decided to extend its application service management products to
the platform.”

“It’s simply not enough to view Linux for S/390 as an isolated
operating system (OS),” said Calvin Guidry, vice president of S/390
service management. “The ultimate success of Linux for S/390
will be driven by its ability to interact with OS/390
applications–that’s where the data is.”

“BMC’s road map for future Linux plans is being discussed this
week at its Assurance 2000 conference in Las Vegas. BMC reiterated
its support for a maturing Linux market and the resulting changes
in customer needs in a recent company statement.”
