LinuxPR: Alias|Wavefront Ships Maya 3 For Linux

“Alias|Wavefront, an SGI (NYSE:SGI) company, today announced
that it has successfully ported its entire suite of Maya 3D
software products to the Red Hat Linux operating system.”

“The products: Maya Builder, Maya Complete and Maya Unlimited
for Red Hat Linux 6.2 and higher will all begin shipping this week.
Numerous requests for a Linux version of Maya from leaders in the
game development, film and visual effects communities served as the
incentive for the port. Maya 3 on the popular Linux operating
system offers animators the power of the world’s leading effects
and animation software in conjunction withthe performance,
reliability and cost effectiveness of the Linux environment.”

making Maya available on their preferred graphics hardware
platforms,” states Chris Ford, Senior Maya Product Manager for
Alias|Wavefront. “With Maya for Linux , IRIX, WindowsNT/Windows

choose the hardware and software configurations that are most
