project’s list of the world’s most powerful supercomputers, the
latest of which was released at the International Supercomputer
Conference (ISC2005) in Heidelberg, Germany, last month.“Linux is playing a larger role in high-performance computing
(HPC), and consistently claiming a larger number of slots on the
Top500 Supercomputer List, according to list editor Erich
Strohmaier. ‘I would say it’s the prevalent operating system on the
list,’ he said in an interview. ‘There’s no indication there will
be a move away from Linux any time soon. I think Linux is here to
stay…'”
