“Giganet’s cLAN for Linux Products with MPI Software
Technology’s MPI/Pro, Showcase Scalability, High Performance for
Parallel Applications”

“Giganet, Inc., a leader in server scalability for the Internet
age, today demonstrated the company’s new cLAN for Linux products
as part of the first native VI (Virtual Interface) Linux cluster.
The demonstration, showcased at the LinuxWorld Conference &
Expo in San Jose, CA, highlights cLAN’s unique ability to provide a
high performance, server-to-server cluster area network among Linux
systems, enabling new levels of scalability for parallel
applications.

The demo configuration consists of a multi-node cluster area
network of Linux systems connected with cLAN and running MPI
Software Technology’s MPI/Pro message passing middleware. The
demonstration showcases a ray tracing program typically used in the
animation industry to create photo-realistic images of a complex
scene. … By clustering the Linux systems and running the ray
tracing program in parallel, the application realized results eight
times faster than if run on a single machine.”

“The cLAN for Linux products include a host adapter and a
cluster switch, as well as supporting software for managing the
cluster.”
