“Inprise/Borland (Nasdaq: INPR) today announced that AOT, one of
the largest professional option trading companies on the Amsterdam
Option Exchange (AEX), is using Inprise technology to automate the
option and stock market trading process. By using VisiBroker to
connect hand-held devices on the trading floor directly to the
Exchange electronic order book via a radio LAN, AOT traders are now
able to complete transactions faster and more reliably than rival
traders.”

“As the backbone to its electronic trading infrastructure,
AOT has selected Inprise/Borland’s VisiBroker, an industry leading
CORBA ORB, to allow AOT’s trading applications to integrate with
the Dutch Options Exchange. AOT selected Linux as the platform for
integration.”

“AOT traders are equipped with Hitachi CE handhelds, which use
Citrix as the thin client software to link directly to the Exchange
radio LAN. The client software being used on the handheld PC’s was
developed using Borland C++ Builder and communicates through CORBA
with one of several exchange-handlers on the AEX gateway, which
runs on Linux. Both the client software and exchange handlers have
been created by an internal development team at AOT. “
