PRNewswire: Kx Systems Introduces Kdb for Linux Powerful Database System for All Platforms

“Kx Systems announced today that it is releasing Kdb for Linux.
Kdb is a relational database management system extended for time
series. Currently available on Unix and NT, Kx has added Kdb for
Linux in response to customer demand in the telecommunications and
financial services industries.”

Kdb on Linux provides an inexpensive, robust and reliable
alternative for high performance database applications.
Janet
Lustgarten, president and co-founder of Kx, says, “We are porting
to Linux because we think it is an industrial strength operating
system. Like Kdb, Linux is extremely reliable, so in combination
they are perfect for building mission critical database
applications. Since Kdb is tiny, with a footprint under 200K, it is
ideal for embedded and remote devices. With Linux, this enables our
customers to build fast, distributed applications that run
24/7.”

“Arthur Whitney, inventor of Kdb, and co-founder of Kx, is
leading a “birds of a feather” session at the LinuxWorld Expo…on
Wednesday, February 2nd at 5:45 PM. This session, titled “Building
Enterprise Databases on Linux,” will describe analytic databases
being used in the telecommunications and financial services
industries. These applications are performing 10-100 times faster
than with other database products.”
